Revival of the classic

Ever since the bicycle was invented, competitions have been held. The Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia, Paris-Roubaix and Paris-Brest-Paris are all legendary. They are driven by the quest of attempting to finish a trip in the shortest possible time on machines controlled by muscle power. Perseverance, precision, strength, skill, concentration, tactics, and respect are just some of the requirements. Today, more and more attention is given to the classic cycling sport mentioned above. Now, cycling enthusiasts can tackle the original stages themselves. Another trend which has been developing in recent years is riding historical roadbikes with steel frames and down tube shifters, with the cyclists dressed in stylish wool sport jerseys to pay homage to past roadbike eras.
So, while carbon fiber is now readily available, steel bike wheels are celebrating a come-back!
For more than ten years, the extent to which the classic roadbike moves its fans is proven by L’Eroica in Tuscany. Every year, thousands of aficionados flock to Gaiole, a small place in Chianti, to tackle the legendary “Eroica” tour on the unique “strade bianche” (unpaved roads). This cycling event attracts a large amount of people. L’Eroica is iconic has become an almost obligatory event for those passionate about cycling.
Weinviertal caught the spark quite some time ago and we’ll make sure to keep it alive!
To start, on the 15th and 16th of June 2019, Poysdorf in Weinviertel will become the first time the hub of the cycling world and a classic meeting point! Everything will revolve around the roadbike and its young and youthful enthusiasts.

Enjoying Weinviertel

‘Delightful relaxation’ is the clear mission statement of Weinviertel. The hilly landscape, the local specialities, and the locals themselves impart this unique lifestyle. The region is characterised by ‘slowing down’ and thus offers the antidote to our fast moving times. The almost meditative cycling, together with intensive experiences, are nothing but a logical consequence. It’s up to us to discover the depths of the Weinviertel for ourselves, and to allow for the experiences to unfold during, and after the tour.

With this in mind, we can only recommend to arrive a little earlier or to stay a little longer after our event. Let the experience of In Velo Veritas settle comfortably in the beautiful Weinviertel.
